We believe that everyone deserves to feel happy and comfortable in their home, whether that's the place you live in or the place you holiday in. We believe each day is important, so we aim to make Southcliff Apartments a place you can breathe a sigh of relief in, and be yourself in from day one. We try to think of the things you have at home that you just couldn't live without (garlic press? oven gloves?), and we add little touches of yester-year at the Geordie seaside to make us smile at memories of days when life was simple. The apartments have been a welcome haven for our guests for many years, and we hope that you will learn to love this beautiful part of the Northumbrian Coast as much as we do.
Hands up, we can't promise that the odd little thing might not go wrong, but we can promise to try to sort things out for you just as soon as possible; so if a kettle does boil it's last cup of tea we'll be there pronto with a replacement.
We promise a friendly welcome, and we'll try to do whatever we can to help you enjoy your stay to the full. We feel strongly that we shoud encourage everyone to care for this beautiful environment and take an active part in helping to preserve its natural beauty, from 'adopting' Browns Bay with the Marine Conservation Society, to arranging litter picks, planting wildlife gardens, and using ecologically sound products where possible.
If you stay with us in summer Tom may be here to meet you. Tom loves bringing back hints and tips from his travels,
from how to fold towels just right - but no, you won't see any swans - to the importance of the fastest WiFi.
Tom has just recently opened the award winning Boatyard cafe around the corner so you can enjoy brilliant breakfasts, lunch or a tea and scone, (dog friendly, Vegan optoins) and as a Southcliff guest he'll welcome you with 10% off your bill!
The apartments were originally owned by Jean Davis a friend and neighbour when they were called 'Browns Bay Flats', and we are delighted that some guests have continued to return since, well over 35 years ago.
Each apartment is an entire floor of this lovely corner building set in lawned gardens. Lawrence tends the garden using natural garden compost and we have planted bushes that encourage butterflies, bees and wildlife. In 2018 we created a wildlife guerilla garden from waste land, overlooking the sea.
We like to think that we have built on Jean's personal approach to create a caring and welcoming home from home, as well as making improvements inkeeping with both a changing world and a very beautiful old building, gaining a coveted 4 star Gold Award in 2011 and every year since.
We were proud to be the only holiday apartments in the region to receive the Silver Green Tourism award showing our commitment to eco friendly initiatives. We enjoy what we do because we care about what we do. That's the difference you will feel when you stay.
We hope to see you soon
Shana and Tom
